MERCURY LEVELS

On watching the dried
rivers
on witnessing the felled
trees
on experiencing the
searing heat of the
sun and thinking about the
depleted ozone layers
on looking at the levelling
of paddy fields
where concrete structures
are rising
on passing thru the
drought affected areas
across the nation
on the disappearance of
once rich flora and fauna
on witnessing the sea-levels
rising which threaten the
very existence of
nations below the
sea-level
the mercury levels of
my anger and sorrow shoot up
and am shuddered at
the future of mankind.
