Confined to my room
lying on the mattress
spread over a cot
under the speeding fan
spending my time
reading a lot,
thinking over the strange
ways of the world
civil wars, wars, genocide,
corruption, malnutrition
deaths, unemployment,
natural calamities like floods,
droughts, stifling the spirit and optimism of the mankind,
with agony and pain piercing my heart,
seated on my chair,
I scribble a poem,
fiction or non-fiction
on the white sheets
during the nights
with the world lapsing into silence
the silence of the graveyard…….
