WITH SYRIA GRABBING HEADLINES, SIMMERING IRAQ HAS NO TAKERS

Now that international attention has turned towards Syria where the simmering civil war between the govt led by Dr.Bashar-Al-Asad and opposition Syrian National Coalition (SNC) with the overt support of Al-Quaeda, a dreaded militant outfit resulting in the slaughtering of approximately 1 lakh people, about 2.5 million displaced and as much ‘missing’ with no silver lining visible over the horizon, so far. With US and E.U. countries poised to dump their arms and ammunitions so as to enable the rebels fight against the govt of Dr.Assad and on the other hand Soviet Union, a friend in need of Dr.Asad bent upon supplying S-300 anti-aircraft missiles to the ruling regime, the situation in Syria has turned out to be on the verge of explosion. Put it succinctly, Syria has incidentally evolved into a playground of a ‘Super Power’ and its friends and equally vehement Russians and Arab League countries who want to fishing in troubled waters. Nowadays we are not hearing anything about UN-Arab League envoy Lakhdar Brahimi who, after Koffi Annan left the scene in despair, has been entrusted with the task of finding a durable solution. A desperate Brahimi after his marathon efforts at bringing the warring sides to the negotiating table had threatened to follow in the footsteps of Koffi Annan, was upbeat on hearing the news of John Kerry, US Secretary of State held a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergi Lavrov and within hours of Kerry leaving for US came the Russia’s supply of S-300 Anti-Aircraft missiles to Syria on the pretext of pre-empting Israel targeting Syria, Brahimi’s upbeat mood changed for the worse. Anyhow, so far the latter has not formally resigned his position.
While Syria has turned into a towering inferno, Iraq another troubled country on the ‘world map’ is heading to a civil war with one thousand violent deaths in the month of May alone reported clashes between the Sunnis assisted by dreaded Al-Quaeda elements with all eyes and ears turned to the news reports emanating from Syria , the violent on-going blood-shed in Iraq has almost sunk into oblivion. A puppet govt under Nouri-Al-Maliki installed by the US regime seems virtually helpless and remain mute spectators to the happenings across the nation. It is interesting and simultaneously thought-provoking that wherever US had/has intervened be it Vietnam, Afghanistan, Libya or Iraq  -those countries are sitting on ticking time-bombs. It has become a kind of merry-making for US authorities to throw any country they intervene, to dogs.
Now it is the turn of Syria, that’s the only difference. The game is not over, now US President Barrack Obama and his associates are eyeing Iran to and as a first step in the wrong direction has already imposed ‘biting sanctions’ with EU nations taking sides on the disputed Uranium enrichment programme of Iran. Make merry Barrack Obama and in your merry-making, millions have already burnt out  like fire-flies to the fire…..
