UN COMMITTEE OF CHILD RIGHTS LASH OUT AT VATICAN OVER THE ISSUE OF PAEDOPHILES

Paedophiles are a blot on society and it is a widespread malaise prevalent in a society. It is something abhorrent that children are being subjected to sexual abuse, majority of such cases are allegedly committed by the so-called gentlemen in each society.

If they are caught with their pants down their true colours would be brought to the fore and there are umpteen examples of this so-called species being let of the hook and subsequently such instances are brushed under the carpet by the concerned authorities.

Most children who fall preys to these obscene cases are the poor ones at the bottom-line of the society. They are being subjected to undergo the abuses by those living in posh areas, most of them Indian and foreign gentlemen who throw a pittance at the poor children who are forced to experience these vulgarities. They are denied basic education facilities by the governments be it by Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party or any other parties. These marginalized children who have not been able to enter the temples of learning, their crime being born as orphans who are unaware of their parents and who instead of being looked after by anyone are pushed to the streets whose silent cries are inaudible. They are thrown to the streets and in order to have one square meal a day go out with their begging bowls everyday and they are the vulnerable ones who are being ‘cajoled’, ‘pampered’ and ‘lured’ thus falling to the machinations of a section of perverts. These children hailing from a marginalized society are seen in every nook and corner of the world especially cities and metros where the rich ones reside and behind whose royal appearances lie a primitive instinct.

As per a hard-hitting report being published by the UN Committee of the Rights of Children, a section of Catholic priests who are entrusted with the task of listening to the grievances of those approaching them and wipe out the tears of the suffering ones are the main culprits who subject the children for sexual abuse. They have often been charged with the crimes of being paedophiles and are let of the hook by Vatican which turn a deaf ear to the demands of the society have recently been taken to task for not initiating exemplary punishment, if not expulsion from their august offices. The United Nations Committee of Child rights have squarely blamed Vatican which imposes lesser punishments like transferring priests to other parishes or sent to other countries. One is at a lose to find out the reasons behind turning a soft-corner to the erring priests who are liable to be removed from their assignments as demanded by UN Committee of Child Rights. Or the latter have demanded Vatican to initiate harsh punishment to these ‘Good Shepherds’ like expulsion from the positions they hold otherwise the number of paedophiles will keep on mounting .What must be the underlying factors behind the agents of God themselves stooping to such low levels? The charges being leveled against paedophiles by the UN Committee of Child rights need to be seriously looked into and initiate disciplinary actions like expulsion from the Holy Community.
