TALKS WITH TERHREEK-E-TALIBAN PAKISTAN – NAWAZ SHERIF CAUGHT ON THE HORNS OF A DILEMMA

Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sherif is on the horns of a dilemma. Faced with the suicide bombings by a terrorist outfit Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan, killing hundreds of citizens each day even without an interval Nawaz Sherif mulled peaceful talks on a cordial note with the TTP ie Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan by forming a committee which is acceptable to both sides. It is noted that even yesterday a suicide bomber blew himself up killing and injuring a few innocent people of Peshawar.
Pakistan is now a democratic country and it wants to be democratic after years of military rule. And for that matter every nation which reels under dictatorship yearns for democracy, yearns for freedom of speech and expression, freedom to move from one place to another and for saving the democracy they are willing to come out into the streets, organize protest rallies, face the loyal forces of the dictator and brave bullets, grenades and tear gas shells and willing to face death. The citizens are likely to go to any extent to force the dictator abdicate his throne or face murder at the hands of freedom fighters. The leaders representing the masses assume power who rule the nation to the satisfaction of the people.
We have a lot of nations to point out as examples, even we the Indians once under the colonial power fought for freedom shedding rivers of blood. Though Gandhiji advocated non-violence - his doctrine was only partially successful.
Pakistanis except new generation must be recalling bitter days of dictatorship.
And after a long fight the nation was blessed with democracy and in future the masses are unlikely to allow the return of the army rule.
If terrorism turned out to be a thorn in the flesh of democratic Pakistan, the seeds of which have been sown by the erstwhile rulers and with time ticking away the seeds germinated into poisonous trees and the fruits of which are harvested by today’s generation and are forced to taste the bitter fruits.
Now that Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan goes on a killing spree devastating the lives of citizens and destroying the properties on large-scale. Before Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan entered the scene, hard-core terror outfits like Lashkar-E-Taiba, Jaish-E-Mohammed, Lashkar-E-Jhanvi, Hisbul Mujhideen etc etc whose aims were Jammu and Kashmir of India and they in hundreds infiltrated into Jammu and Kashmir under the cover of darkness from across the border killed hundreds and hundreds of innocents thus forcing India to concede their demands especially the annexation of J&K with Pakistan. After a long spell these outfits which lay dormant are reported to have risen again to sow the seeds of destruction both in Pakistan and India.
The so-called ‘cordial’ talks between the representatives acceptable to both sides are likely to fizzle out or the talks are certain to turn infructuous.
TTP ie Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan’s demands are absolutely regressive. Their demands include the stopping of drone attacks by Pakistan in Waziristan, the introduction of Sharia laws (which are outdated), and introduction of Islamic system of education in schools  in the first half of 21st century a democratic government will not be willing to bring back Islamic system of education in the temples of learning which too are unthinkable. Their other demands include the release of the prisoners belonging to Tehreek-E-Taliban Pakistan and cut off all relations with United States. Their demands are bound to fail in the course of the talks between the two sides.
A democratic govt cannot even ponder over the return of Sharia law, especially when the new generation of Pakistan yearns for more and more democratic reforms. The demand for returning to medieval times is deplorable to say the least.
Similarly the demand to introduce Islamic system of education in schools across the nation won’t have any takers.

All demands point to an utter failure of talks. Let’s wait and see.
