DR.BINAYAK SEN, CHIDAMBARAM AND DIG VIJAY SINGH

Two very important guys. Each treading two different paths. Two sides of the same coin.
One gentleman guy, P.Chidambaram, in his capacity as the Home Minister and as a lawyer is certain that the only way left for Dr.Binayak Sen who was convicted and sentenced to imprisonment for life by a Raipur sessions court Dr.Sen will have to approach a higher court to get his grievances redressed. As far as far as Chidambaram is concerned “one who respects democracy should have to respect the processes of democracy and one who respects law should have to respect the processes of law”. Dr.Binayak Sen by any standards is far above this gentleman guy, take for example, his empathetic attitude towards the poor tribals of Chattisgarh, his campaign for human rights in the capacity of Vice-President of International Human Rights Commission, a great man revered and recognized by International human rights activists and his advice to Maoists not to indulge in violence by killing paramilitary forces, remember, he was in the forefront of advising the Maoists to desist from annihilating the enemies and choose a peaceful path to achieve their goals. Such a great man languishing in a jail for life is something pathetic and justifying the conviction citing various reasons is pitiful to say the least.
Dr. Sen’s wife Ilina Sen and their two girl children aged 25 and 20 fed up with the unkind judicial system is thinking on the lines of seeking asylum in any other nation, a liberal democracy to continue to leave peacefully. On hearing this from a lady of the stature of Ilina Sen, we should feel ashamed of ourselves as we nurture a hubristic attitude of being the largest democracy. From the talks of certain persons in their capacity holding responsible posts we are left with a feeling that Dr.Binayak Sen in the capacity of a human rights activist is a hardened criminal. But the funny thing is that hardened criminals are moving scot-free in luxurious cars and with all comforts of security and luxury. Each citizen irrespective of their status in society is very well aware that these persons who have looted the exchequer of crores and crores of money should have been imprisoned after trial in any fast-track courts. Dr.Sen has not committed such a crime, he cannot even mull over committing such a crime still he finds himself in jail, that too for life. The other very important guy Dig Vijay Singh who is the bĂȘte noire of the first guy is in a hurry to prove his argument that what he had said about Hemant Karkare, the slain police officer in the 26/11 Mumbai carnage, that he was apprehending threat to his life from saffron elements for investigating the Malegaon bomb blasts in the capacity of investigating officer was true by producing the concerned evidence that he obtained from BSNL authorities. His demand is that all who questioned his honesty for instance Maharashtra Home Minister R.R.Patil and BJP leaders should tender apology to him.
Anyhow he has not dared to mention anything against Kavita Karkare who had rubbished his statement and who had demanded the ruling leaders to immediately book the culprits who were involved in her husband’s death.
In our India, the pitiful sight we witness today is that those who ought to be outside the jail find themselves inside it and those who should be imprisoned at the earliest roam free enjoying all luxuries. And everything has its justifications too.
