THE WOMB

Each Sunday
on her way to
church to attend
the Holy Communion
together parents
and siblings
her complaints to
herself went on like this:
‘Why the hell all keep
a close watch on
me,
am I a pretty little
doll or a Princess
worth watching?’
Attending the Holy
Communion
she kept mum
nothing to pray
nothing to confess
before the priest
was in a dead hurry
to reach her room
and get confined
within four walls
of her home to
escape the ‘watchful eyes’
of her family members.
While alone
talking to herself
and watching the painting
of Infant Jesus
held close to the bosom of
Virgin Mary
the umpteenth
time,
she got bored with
her claustrophobic existence
woke up from
the bed
and complained to
herself about her
her prison-like
self-confinement
walls surrounded
by walls
walls within walls
as in a womb.
She wished to be
like a free lady
demanding her to be
free from chains.
