Memories act as bridges
with the past.
Each memory
each bridge with the
past.
We all build bridges
in memory of our
dear and near.
Travelling down memory
lane,
we renew and refresh
our moments with them.
Memorials are built for
the great, by posterity
but
ordinary mortals didn’t
have memorials
don’t have memorials
won’t have memorials
no wonder that.
Rich, influential megalomaniacs
are eager to build memorials
for themselves, eager to install statues
for themselves wherever possible
while alive
since they do fear
their names being
wiped out like paints on walls
from the hearts of posterity
or consigned to the
dustbins of history
within no time
they are gone
as they know for sure
that
they are as good as dead
like an antiquated doctrine.
