METHOD IN MADNESS

Ever year at a
given point of time
she plunged deep into the
depth of silence.
Always talkative,
energetic, vibrant girl
falling silent abruptly
initially appalled us
flabberghasted us, sent shock waves thru us
forcing each of us
stare at each other
with question marks
glinting in our wide eyes.
Confined to her private room
keeping aloof from
all of us
for hours on end she
spent time watching the
sharp blade of the infinite blue sea
both during the day
and night thru the window.
Seemed like she
was waiting impatiently for
her beloved prince from afar
approaching her
rowing a boat splashing water
to spent lovely sweet moments with her
or to beckon her.
But no one came
no one was there to visit
her
it all seemed like a
vow of silence for a
specified period
withdrawing into a shell
like a tortoise.
But for her vow of
silence
she followed her daily
routine as before
as usual
with her plunging into silence gradually
we too fell into silence
as her silence was infectious
and our home evolved into
a graveyard of eerie silence.
She must have felt it
musical and golden
but for us it was unbearable and painful
we were at a loss to find out.
Upon her breaking the silence
after a stipulated period
we too followed suit
and our home once
again turned vibrant and
energetic, musical and rejoicing.
Was there a method in her madness?
