Lift the curtain
of dark days
unroll the red carpet
for the new dawn
throw open the doors
and windows
and let beams of light
and fresh air stream in
banish the darkness
forever
light up the lamps of
cheers to everyone’s lip
‘ungag’ the gagged mouths
let the rays of freedom of speech
and expression pervade
the ambience
light up a candle
in the inner recessess of hearts
in remembrance of the
martyrs
who fought and laid
their lives for the
cause of freedom.
