ALONE IN THE NIGHT

Waiting for the door bell
to ring anytime by her beloved, she lay
listening to the mellifluous
songs of a melody queen
caressing her ears, cooling her mind.
Sensing the scent of
an aphrodisiac entering
with cool breeze flowing
into the room she
lay with a lascivious
smile.
Watching the slice of
the star-studded sky
through the window
she lay, her eye-lids
twinkling like the stars.
Listening to the distant
blaring of a train
sensing a wild but feeble music
as the train sped along
with its glowing red-eye
penetrating the darkness,
she lay.
She lay dreaming of an imaginary
world, where she and he
laying locked in embrace
but even after prolonged waiting
the door bell rang not
melody queen stopped her
music and went home
the flow of cool breeze came to
an abrupt end
the scent of the aphrodisiac
stopped filling the room and
entering her nostrils
the star-studded slice of
the sky turned dark ,cloudy
she switched off the lamp
lying on the bed
but sleep never came her
way.
Listening to the rhythmic
music of silence she lay
awaiting the approach of
a deep, sound sleep
while the world fell asleep
she longed to listen a
lullaby coming from afar
to lull her to sleep.
She was remembering her childhood
with her mother.
