SHOCK TREATMENT

In the peak hours
of a morning
with the sun literally burning
in the sky
forcing the city catching
fire
a man
a sturdy middle-aged man
some commented him a
confirmed drunkard
others correcting it
by calling him insane
nobody knew for sure
who he was
what he was.
Brandishing a long iron-rod
mouthing choice-epithets
towards the passers by and
onlookers
frightening each with his
menacing, burning eyes
forcing them to run for
cover
even the police men on duty
beat a retreat by his
aggressive ways
still commanding him
to surrender
determined to conquer
tried to pounce on him
but was forced to
back-track.
He like a dare-devil
‘rolled on’ like a
juggernaut
unexpectedly
the man saw
the people in street
saw
an elephant running
amuck
from the opposite
direction
trumpeting
wreaking destruction all
the way
forcing the people to
flee for life
all
including the man
threw away the rod
and vanished from the
scene
dissolved into thin air
who was he?
what was he?
drunkard or insane.
A simpleton elephant
could remedy
his malady
within seconds.
